The large
intestine or colon is the last part of our digestive tract. Colon cancer or
Colorectal cancer is a cancer that develops in that region. It generally
happens to older adults, but one can develop colon cancer at any age.
Colon
cancer generally starts with abnormal growth inside the large intestine. These
are called ‘polyps’. Later, those polyps can turn into cancer.

Few
symptoms of colon cancer are:
- A change in bowel habits, such as diarrhoea,
constipation, or narrowing of the stool, that lasts for more than a few
days
- A feeling that you need to have a bowel movement
that is not relieved by having one
- Rectal bleeding with bright red blood
- Blood in the stool, which might make it look dark
brown or black
- Cramping or abdominal (belly) pain
- Weakness and fatigue
- Losing weight without trying
According to Statista, the cases between 2009 and 2021 has increased about 5.19% in men and decreased about 2% in women, in the USA.
