Endometriosis - Causes, Symptoms and Healings

Endometriosis is a disease characterized by the presence of tissue resembling endometrium, a part on the lining of the uterus, outside the uterus. With each Menstrual cycle it thickens, breaking down and bleeds every time as it becomes part of it. Within the pelvis it causes chronic inflammation that can form scar tissue (adhesion, fibrosis).

This can cause severe pain, and, in most cases, it leads to infertility. Prevalence of endometriosis may be as high as 25% to 40% among infertile women. About 25 million women are estimated to be suffering from endometriosis in India.

Age group: Endometriosis commonly affects women during their reproductive years between the ages of 25 and 35.
