Bulls are neglected as they do not give milkExecutive Summary:
- The Indigenous male cattle population is declining and has decreased by 29% between 2012 and 2019. Because all bullock carts and farming are replaced by tractors and artificial insemination-based breeding cows have made bulls unsustainable to feed and useless.
- And we need to develop a self-sustainable program to protect and feed stray bulls in India by partnering with Shiva Temples and Stock Exchanges.
- utilize the cultural significance of Nandi, the sacred bull, to encourage community participation and support.
Objectives:
- To provide a safe and nurturing environment for stray bulls within or near Shiva Temple premises and near Stock Market Exchanges of India. Thereby establish a self-sustaining system for feeding the bulls through devotee & Stock-broker donations and Exchange & temple support.
Strategies:
- Team Save Cows India engages with temple authorities across India to secure a space for stray bulls and create a steady donation & good sales revenue.
- Design and install informative signage at temples to educate and encourage devotees to contribute to the cause.
- The devotees can buy Gur (jaggery) and vegetables from temple authorities. And temple authorities can buy from local shops to ensure a steady supply of food for the bulls.
Implementation Plan:
- Phase 1: Identify and partner with larger Shiva temples willing to participate in the project.
- Phase 2: Set up the infrastructure needed, including secure areas for the bulls and signage.
- Phase 3: Launch the program with an inaugural event to raise awareness and encourage donations.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Regular health checks for the bulls by veterinary professionals.
- Monthly reports on the number of bulls fed, food quantities used, and funds raised.
- Feedback collection from temple authorities and devotees to improve the program.
Budget:
- A detailed budget plan will be prepared, outlining initial setup costs, recurring expenses, and potential funding sources.
Call to Action:
- Request for donations to kickstart the project, with options for one-time or recurring contributions and encourage volunteers to participate in the care and maintenance of the bulls and the feeding program.
Conclusion:
- This project aims to create a harmonious solution that not only helps stray bulls but also strengthens the bond between the community and cultural practices. With the support of donors and temple communities, we can ensure a compassionate and respectful approach to animal welfare.
